Zelensky: If we end the war fairly, the world will be able to be confident in international law

The head of state noted at the Crimean Platform Summit that the criminal should not benefit from this war.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated during his speech at the 3rd Crimean Platform Summit that if we end the war fairly, the world will be able to be confident in international law. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President.

“The number of state flags in this hall now clearly indicates that Russia has failed in the main thing for it since the 14th year, namely: Putin failed to make international crime part of the norm for peoples. It was with the seizure of Crimea that Russia’s attack on the system of international law began. But stealing the land of another people, deporting those who resist, and breaking the life of an entire nation – that is, everything that Russia does – will never be accepted by the international community,” Zelensky said.

He noted that for all states it is equally valuable to preserve sovereignty, territorial integrity and the right to determine their future. This is what the UN Charter is based on. Not on the fact that someone can decide to burn the life of a neighboring people or deport them, as Moscow has repeatedly done with the peoples of our region, but on completely different goals and principles. The UN Charter is about real peace, not about how to normalize war.

“And now, when some leaders of states have gathered at Putin’s summit in Kazan and when, in fact, past this summit, they can move military personnel from North Korea closer to the front in Ukraine to the accompaniment of words about supposedly “preventing tension,” we still know: the winner will not be the criminal, not the one who destroys and deports, but the one who unites peoples on the basis of fundamental human values and the UN Charter,” the president said.

He recalled that almost two years ago, at the G20 summit in Indonesia, he proposed a Peace Formula that could restore the full effectiveness of the goals and principles of the UN Charter and truly protect life from aggression. And this is not just about Ukraine.

“If we succeed in ending this war justly, then any other nation against which such aggression may be planned will be able to be sure that the world will have enough strength and unity to defend international law. Therefore, I ask all of you to be active and truly unwavering. The criminal must not benefit from this war,” the head of state emphasized.

These days, political consultations will be held on filling the military points of the victory plan, Zelensky said in an evening video address. He noted that this plan will allow us to move forward according to the peace formula.

“This is precisely our goal, our task – to guarantee Ukraine reliable peace and lasting security. This is possible solely on the basis of international law and without any trade in sovereignty or trade in territories. Exactly as stipulated by the peace formula. Ukraine needs peace – real, fair, – guaranteed protection from war. This is possible only on strong positions. And only when both our people and our partners are truly united,” Zelensky noted.

Today, the president said that during the 25th meeting in the Ramstein format, Ukraine will provide a victory plan to all of Ukraine’s partners.

Earlier, in August, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke for the first time about the victory plan. The Ukrainian leader noted that “the plan consists of five points – four main ones and one that must be implemented after the war is over.”

After the visit, Zelensky said that he had received “full support from the United States for the strategy of approaching peace”

The Office of the President stated that the plan for Ukraine’s victory would be presented to Ukrainians, but in part.

Ukrainian President and US President will meet again in October as part of a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense at the German Ramstein Air Base, the White House and the Office of the President of Ukraine reported.
